Labor Day Weekend

Things are pleasantly uneventful for us right now! It's a nice change. We're enjoying the 3 day weekend. Yesterday we went to the zoo and out shopping with the boys.

Here's a funny story. I'm reluctantly posting it on the blog :) I did leave off true example pictures.

Luke- "Mommy there are raisins coming out of that sheep's bottom."

Me- "Luke, That is what a sheep's poopie looks like."

Luke- laughing "His poopie looks like raisins?"

Me- embarrassed b/c we are in the earshot of several people "Yes."

Now one sheep goes over and smells the other sheep's poopie...

Luke- "That sheep is smelling the other sheep's raisin poopie."

Me - "Yes, that is yucky."

Of course by then several people are snickering at us as I am deciding it is time to move on to the next exibit. I had forgotten about that story :) Micah and I went to the zoo this weekend with the boys and it sparked my memory. Aren't you glad I shared?

That's Daddy

I took the boys to the zoo (about 45 minutes away)on Monday morning. When we got to the zoo, I went to get Luke out. I looked down at his feet and low and behold-no shoes. I do not have it together right now :) Anyways, we had not bought him his back to school shoes, so we went shopping.

I drove around a rather rough section of Dallas and finally found a foot action or something. We shopped for a minute, then Luke looked up and saw a huge version of this hanging in the store:

Luke shouted: "That's Daddy!" to which I replied "Yes, that IS your daddy." before the salesman could give him a lesson on Michael Jordan.

Needless to say that Luke now has his first pair of Jordans. It's funny because the emblem is in several places on the shoe like on the sole and inside on the insole etc. He's always talking about "Daddy" when he puts his shoes on. He says funny things as he's babbling to himself like "Oh, there's Daddy-in my shoe!" I expect no one to correct him! It's great for Micah's ego not to mention great entertainment.

Escargot for Titus

I've pulled my fair share of strange things out of a baby's mouth. The list includes but is not limited to pieces of fuzz on the carpet, abandoned snacks under the chairs at church, bugs (both dead and alive), etc. Today while walking around in the front yard, I go to remove an object from Titus's mouth. Maybe a small stick or a piece of mulch??? I fish around for a while and remove a small snail shell. Gross.

Back on our feet (or wheels) again

We finally got our "new" car. The insurance company only gave us 2 days to find a car once they let us know the car was totaled and what they were going to give us for ours (Monday). I had already done the research in consumer reports and made a spreadsheet of available cars in the area. So the boys spent most of the time on Monday and Tuesday in the car. Tuesday evening we bought our "new" car. Whew, I'm glad that is over with. We bought a Toyota Sienna. We really like it.

If you look in our garage, this is what you'll see. Whoo Hoo! I'm thirty and have a minivan. Expect a midlife any time, but for now I think I'm o.k.

Luke taking a turn driving the "ban".

Many of you are asking about how everyone is doing. Luke and I both have a little anxiety on the road still. He whimpers if I have to honk at someone :(

My physical therapy is going well. They are now expecting a recovery of 5-8 weeks. Mostly we think I just have a strained pectoral muscle/rib joint and whiplash.

A very loud house

The noise level at my house is unbelievable. My mom is always saying that I sound like I'm in the monkey cage at the zoo when I talk to her on the phone. I just have to hang on to my hat. Looks at that face! He's having so much fun. It's hard to say no to that!

Titus walking around the house. He is walking well now which means I am running!

Grammy and the boys playing at a McDonald's playland yesterday. She got in there with them! What a great Grammy.

Recovering from the wreck

Thanks so much to my mom! She watched the boys, let me go to Dr. appointments, helped me clean the house, and so much more. I need to send that lady some flowers!

The boys seem to have healed and I'm still having trouble with my neck. I'm in physical therapy now and expect to be better soon.

The car is now offically totaled and we are shopping for a minivan. I'm actually really excited to be able to take others with me as we go somewhere like the zoo or pick up someone (like Grandma Betty or Yeh Yeh) from the airport. It's more fun if everyone can come in the same car.

Don't fall asleep with a 3 year old in the room!

Dad fell asleep on the couch while plaing with Luke. Luckily the stickers were not very "sticky". That could have really hurt getting all of those off b/c dad is a bit hairy. Dad is always so sweet to watch Luke as he plays with his cars and trains.

Micah and Titus

When I saw this I cracked up b/c it was Micah and Titus. Micah rubs Titus's head just like this. Micah agrees. This sums them up.

A car wreck :(

Well, Yesterday had more drama than I would prefer in a given day. I am so thankful that we are all o.k. I was out running errands and a black SUV ran a stop sign and hit my car. I had both boys with me. The moment between when I heard them screaming and when I could turn around and see them was an eternity. I was relieved beyond belief to see them both o.k.

People came out of the nearby businesses and held the boys while the emergency personelle arrived. There were a couple of ambulances a fire truck and a few police cars. Luke did enjoy getting to see all of that. He kept telling the rescue workers that they had big muscles and "Thank you for helping us." Needless to say we got treated great.

You can see the car below. I feel so lucky that the other car hit where it did. It scares me to think what would have happened if she had hit our car a little further back. I am so thankful that God was taking care of all of us. The adjuster expects the car to be totaled.

Titus-seems fine! He didn't have any red marks on him that I could see. I stripped him down to his diaper at the scene. The carseat seems like it did it's job. I'm glad he was rear facing also.

Luke-The little man has bruising on both shoulders from the seatbelt harness. He also has a bruise on his upper leg where the seatbelt comes inbetween his legs. He also has a cut under his chin.

Lucy-I have whiplash and some bruises. They did a lot to check me out with X-rays and a CAT scan of my neck. Everything looked good, so I expect to be sore for a few days, but fine.

Micah beat us to the hospital. He helped juggle the boys until Cara got there and Titus went home with Jennifer. Also, he ran to Target to buy new carseats. You have to get new carseats when you have an accident. This happened when Titus was 19 lbs. and 10.5 months. It was a little tricky for him, but we just did a convertible.

The brace was precautionary, but it made Cara cry when she saw me. Once the CAT scan came back o.k. they let me take off the brace.

Luke getting discharged.

Cara and Luke playing with the blood pressure cuff when the nurses weren't looking.

Cara and Luke smiling and having a good time. Cara wasn't in the accident, she was just playing around with the neck brace when I was done with it. Actually, you can see the cut under Luke's chin in this picture.

Thanks to everyone for their prayers, visits, and calls yesterday while we were in the hospital and today. A special thanks to Jennifer E. for getting Titus once he was discharged. Mom was able to come in, so I have help with the babies and the house. Give your loved ones an extra hug today. Everything can change in a moment. It's easy to forget that.

Hahn Family Reunion

We just had a Hahn reunion in Kentucky. We did lots of fun stuff like boating and outdoor movies. The South Carolina family was able to come up too. Aunt Sue was in from Japan also. It was a wonderful visit. Here are a few of the picts. There were lots more things we did, but chasing two kids we didn't get pictures of everything :)

The airplanes were so exciting to the boys.

One of my favorite moments of the whole trip. "Mommy, what do these pictures mean?" If you notice the worried look! (This is the emergency manual that explains itself in pictures.)

Do I need to say more? Augh! Acutally Betty made little cakes for everyone. Luke got a 3rd birthday cake and Titus got his 1st birthday cake.

Titus has his first 1st birthday cake. I made him wait to eat cake until his actual birthday.

Luke's 3rd birthday cake.

Luke opens presents. Will's face cracks me up in this picture.

I made Superhero capes for the boys. They were pretty funny running around in their capes and PJs.

Here is a picture of everyone.

Micah was sweet to blow bubbles with Luke and Gavin. Titus even watched through the window.

Angela is reading bible stories to Gavin and Luke. Our sweet Angela is engaged! Luke is in mourning as Angela he has a huge crush on her.

Time to head to the airport. Grandma Betty sat in the back with Luke.

Two (actually three) very tired boys head home to Texas. Note that Luke is still interested in the emergency manual.

Thanks to Randy and Betty for hosting everyone. I'm glad that we were all able to have a great visit.

Titus is Walking

Watch out world! Titus is now walking. This is an early video of his walking. He can make it across the room now.
